Injectable Fillers

Laughter and smiles are a welcome part of life, but many people would rather do without the lines and wrinkles that all those good times can leave behind. Foothills Dermatology, serving the greater Tucson, Arizona area, offers JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and other injectable dermal fillers in to soften lines on the face, create more youthful lips and facial contours, and even smooth the appearance of depressed scars. We strive to restore a more youthful look to your face avoiding any unnatural appearance. These simple treatments can significantly improve your facial appearance without the need for surgery.

Benefits

The remarkable popularity of injectable dermal fillers can be attributed to their effectiveness and versatility. They aren’t just for lines and folds. At our practice, Dr. Kathy Orlick uses fillers to add youthful volume in areas such as the cheeks and lips. Lip fillers can also be used to create symmetry and enhance the border of the mouth. Popular filler treatment concerns include:

  • Dark circles or hollows beneath the eyes

  • Nasolabial folds framing the mouth

  • Vertical marionette lines on the chin

  • Hollow or flattened cheeks

  • Thin or poorly defined lips

Women and men visit us for a naturally enhanced appearance. The injectable procedure is performed in our office at your appointment.

Your Filler Options

At Foothills Dermatology, we carry the Restylane filler family line as well as the Juvederm filler family line.

Non-Surgical Facelift

Our providers often recommend combining dermal fillers and Botox® Neuromodulator in what is known as a non-surgical facelift or “liquid facelift.” This treatment delivers both the volume-boosting effects of fillers with the wrinkle-smoothing benefits of Botox to address many of the most common aging concerns in a single session. While this may not replace a surgical facelift for all candidates, it works well for those with early signs of aging who aren’t quite ready for surgery. It’s less invasive, poses a lower risk, and requires less downtime than a surgical facelift, although the results are temporary.

Do I Need Lip Fillers or a Lip Lift?

Lip filler injections are an excellent way to plump up and define the lips; they do not bring the top lip closer to the nose as with a lip lift. Many patients benefit from a combination of these procedures. If you want fuller lips, lip augmentation with dermal fillers is likely the best option.

Combining Dermal Fillers With Other Treatments

Our board-certified dermatologists and physician assistants evaluate your needs to develop the most appropriate treatment plan for you in our Tucson office. Dermal fillers may be combined with other cosmetic procedures and treatments such as BOTOX.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will happen at my filler consultation?

During your consultation with Dr. Orlick, you will have access to many before and after photos so you can get a better sense of the instantaneous results our patients achieve when they choose injectable fillers. You will also learn about alternatives to fillers. All of your questions will be answered so that you can make a smart decision. If you decide to have an injectable treatment, it can be administered during your appointment.

Are filler injections painful?

Newer injectable fillers contain lidocaine to greatly decrease the discomfort of the treatment; additionally, we apply a topical anesthetic prior to treatment. The procedure is completed in roughly 15 minutes so any discomfort you may experience is minimal, particularly when compared to the benefits. After your treatment bruising and swelling is generally minor. You can enjoy beautiful results immediately.

How long do filler results last?

Depending on the treatment area and the filler used, results can last from approximately 6 months up to 2 years. Your provider will discuss this with you as part of your treatment plan.

Are fillers safe?

When used under the supervision of a board-certified dermatologist, injectable dermal fillers are very safe. The fillers we use are made from hyaluronic acid (HA)—a synthetic version of a substance that occurs naturally in the body. It is biocompatible and not associated with allergic reactions. These fillers are also reversible, so they can be immediately dissolved if the need arises.
